Nicaragua: Library Los Quinchos

Location

The library Los Quinchos is a special place. Los Quinchos is an association that takes children off the streets; children that are exploited and exposed to drugs, violence, and abuse. The library is just part of an amazing project that is transforming the lives of these children.

Library Los Quinchos is open to all in the community but is mainly used by the children that have been taken off the streets. The children are ages 6-18 and they use the library in many ways. The younger children find the otherwise unknown joy of childhood as they play with the toys, read the story books, and listen to stories being read to them. The older kids find a loving librarian that genuinely cares about them and helps them with homework and any other questions they may have.

Many of these youth do not know how to use a computer or even how to use a dictionary. Library Los Quinchos is providing a place of learning which is preparing them to become successful in the world they live in. These children and youth are being shown their own value and what they can offer to society in the future. Your gifts can help enhance the future of these children. Library Los Quinchos needs:
