Corinto Community Library

Corinto, named after the Greek city of Corinth, is a relaxing place to be, even though it is one of the hottest places in Nicaragua. It is located on the northwest coast and is the location of a major port. A wide variety of items and cargo pass through Corinto’s Port each year, the majority of it traveling to or from South America.

Corinto is a picturesque town where life is unhurried and enjoyed; this doesn’t mean that the people of Corinto aren’t working for a better life. There are schools in Corinto educating primary and high school students; however, the quality of education is still striving to be where it should. The Community Library in Corinto is trying to help these students receive the best possible education they can with the resources they have available.

Corinto’s Community Library is struggling financially and is not able to provide students with the most updated textbooks and information they need to complete homework and assignments. The librarians are eager to assist students and the community but their hands are tied because of the lack of funds. They spend time at each school promoting the library and encouraging reading. The librarians would love to be able to offer the students in Corinto a place of quality education and learning for all ages.
