Library Information

Books for Life has helped establish or enhance 50 community libraries in Nicaragua. We partner with local people who provide part of the funding, a building facility, librarians and staff. These libraries are truly "community learning centers," where people gather to read, learn, study and celebrate their culture.

Nicaragua has a vibrant artistic culture, known for its poetry and music. When people at the libraries were asked what would be most valuable to them besides books, their answer was immediate and urgent: "Musical instruments!"

HeartStrings is a response to their request.
