Project: Tisma Library in Nicaragua

More than two million children in Nicaragua go to school without any textbooks.

Imagine. Studying science or math, art or languages without a textbook.

This lack of books is creating a vicious cycle of illiteracy and poverty that is crippling a generation.

People in Tisma are not asking you to provide books to every student in the school. There are 1,300 students in Tisma. They need textbooks on science, math, chemistry, social science, language, literature and other subjects. We want textbooks covering 10 subjects. Each book will be shared by eight to ten students and will benefit students for many years to come.

Partnership--not giveaway

This isn’t a giveaway program. People here Tisma will raise 15% of the cost of these books. That’s a big sacrifice for our community. But we want to invest in our children’s future and show our gratitude to those who are helping.

We’re not looking for a ton of money.

Books and computers will cost $12,000. We want to raise $10,000. The balance will be raised by us the people of Tisma.

$1,000 will help provide one computer

$100 will help provide 20 books

$50 will help provide 10 books.

$5 will help provide one book.
